A visit to Blenheim Palace + A proper British Afternoon Tea

Blenheim Palace Belle in Transit Afternoon Tea Done

Happy Fridays loves! It’s a rainy weekend here in Atlanta which is great because all I plan to do besides a few low-key things is rest! But first let’s talk about palaces and afternoon tea cos we fancy.

Blenheim Palace Belle in Transit Tea

I’ve been to London and its immediate vicinity quite a few times but for some reason I’d never indulged in the lovely British tradition that is afternoon tea.  Well I found myself in Oxford for a few days and even though I wasn’t there for sightseeing, my girls INSISTED that I have afternoon tea at none other but the impressive Blenheim palace. It took us two tried to eventually make it to the palace because life, but I’m so so glad we did.

To be honest, I went for two reasons: to enjoy afternoon tea like a proper British lady, but more importantly, to speak a palace into existence in my own life. Ha! You laugh now but one day I shall own my palace and I won’t invite you to the fabulous parties. Bloop! lol.

Anyway before I share my tea experience, let’s take a moment to marvel at beauty that is Blenheim palace. I mean would you look at the grounds! That alone had me ordering my ancestry DNA kit to see if perchance, I have some family ties to the Duke. Speaking of the Duke, he was in residence during my visit so I couldn’t tour some of the more private quarters. Bummer! You just wait Duke, one day you too shall be begging to tour my palace.

So stately!

A fraction of the gardens before I had to run for shelter. The sudden downpour wouldn’t let me be great.

Afternoon Tea at The Orangery at Blenheim Palace

We just made the cutoff time for tea and had the restaurant mostly to ourselves

Now let’s talk about tea (spoken with my pinky finger up naturally). Within the vastness of Blenheim palace lives “The Orangery“, a restaurant that serves different meals including…you guessed it, tea. The best way to describe this tea will be a tower of yummy, indulgent, artery-clogging deliciousness with zero nutritional value. Yup, I was convinced I would birth forth a whole bakery full of bread after that meal but man it was delicious! How do people do this every single day?

The scones were so warm and decadent. Hands-down my favorite. Also loved the sandwich with some kind of curry flavor, and the lemon tart

I opted for the champagne option and my only complaint is that it comes with a glass of a champagne and not a whole bottle. #WDDDA.

With every bite I took, I felt like a greedy, slothful glutton but you bet I took at least one bite of everything. Like a proper British gal with loads of couth, I of course did not gobble up every single thing cos that would be unbecoming. The scones were my favorite though and I almost pulled an Oliver Twist and asked for more.

I had the jasmine tea and it was delish!

So much goodness

Will I indulge in afternoon tea again? Absolutely! In fact, I’m thinking of inviting some friends over and having one in my very own apartment.

Have you ever enjoyed a proper British afternoon tea? Do you own a palace and would like to invite me over? lol. Do share in the comments.

Thanks so much for reading. Have a great weekend and catch you soon!

How lovely! I loved your little tour in Blenheim Palace. I too wish to visit some palace one day. Does the Duke make appearances for the visitors?

I love tea and have it daily. Not as indulgent as the tea served at the Blenheim Palace. You have me wanting to take a road trip soon just to experience a tea afternoon in royal style.
